As the leading Hong Kong one-price retailer 8MART wanted to expand into other S.E. Asian markets.
However, the name would not “travel” as all items instore were 8 $HK and the corporate colours (red and gold) not acceptable.
The solution was very simple, but highly effective. 8MART became SMART!
The imagery was modernised and fresher, brighter colours introduced.
A strap line of BE SMART! BUY SMART! SAVE SMART! was introduced to support the new imagery.
We redesigned the 8 MART brand to allow it to be used across all SE Asian territories.
This increased the perceived value of the store and enabled it to move away from the fixed pricing strategy.
The result was successful launches into S.E.Asia markets, increased sales, higher brand perception and an increased basket value.
